GIST OF THE DISCUSSION 22nd September, 2018 –

An interdisciplinary Discussion Session on “ संस्कृत परम्परा में आहार संशुद्धि– मर्यादा, सौन्दर्य एवम् आहारिक मूल्य”* “ Food Sensibility in Sanskrit Tradition – Ethics, Aesthetics & Dietary Values” was organized by Depts of Sanskrit, Home Science,Sanskrit Sahitya Parishad, SDHDRT Center of S D College & SD Adarsh Sanskrit College,Ambala Cantt today which was attended by 16 participants & among them Dr Akshay Mishra, head dept of SKT, DAV College, Naneola presided over the discussion & spoke on Vaishnav food culture, Dr Shyam Nath jha on Yogic food, Dr Jaiprakash Gupt on Ayurvedic food, Dr. Uma Sharma on Vedic food sacrifices, Dr. Chiman Lal on drinking of water & water memory, Sh. Anil Mittal on Cow milk Food, Dr. Joginder of civil hospital on medical evaluation of Traditional food, Prof Meenakshi Sharma on food culture in homes, Dr Nandini on science of food, Prof Ritika Pahwa on varieties of food, Dr Vimal Manchanda on emerging trends in food habits. Sh. Prince Arya raised questions regarding the food culture among youth .
It was decided-
1. to celebrate Vedic Food Festival (वैदिकाहारोत्सव) soon jointly by Home Sc & Skt depts.
2. Relevant material of Sanskrit Shastra should be introduced in Home Sc syllabus.
