(Under VedaVyaas Restructuring Sanskrit Scheme) Dept of Sanskrit, Political Science, SDHDR&T Center, S D College, GMN College, SD Adarsh Skt College, Ambala, MPN College, Mullana,, RKSD College, Kaithal jointly organized a *National Webinar * on the topic – *“Critique Of Idea & Concept Of Justice In Indian & Western Tradition” “ भारतीय एवम् पाश्चात्य परम्परा में न्य ाय के हवचार एवम् अवधारणा की मीमांसा* in which 39 scholars, teachers & students participated. Dr. Chiman Lal, HOD, Pol Sc welcome the resource person Dr. Ashutosh Dayal Mathur, Head, dept of Sanskrit , St. Stephen College, Delhi University, Delhi who talked about the various aspects of western tradition of justice along with the idea of Nyaaya as Dharma in Sanskrit Dharma-Shaastra tradition. He referred to different sources of dharma-shaastras regarding the various aspects of justice including issues of social justice. Dept of Sanskrit initiated the discussion by raising the following issues bby a PPT presentation – What justice is? What constitutes justice? What is the difference among Greek, Roman, Biblical, Islamic, Indian constitutional ideas & concepts of justice along with Sanskrit Shaastrik concept of justice? NEETI & NYAAYA – both stand for justice in classical Sanskrit, but both have been used in many different senses in different philosophical and legal discussions in ancient India. Among the principal uses of the term NITI are organizational propriety and behavioral correctness whereas the term Nyaaya stands for a more comprehensive concept of realized justice. Moreover Dharma is a more appropriate concept rather than justice or Nyaaya. Dept of Skt shared four short stories to easily understand the concept of Justice from Greek, western, Jew & Sanskrit tradition. It was decided to hold one more such open house discussion soon on this issue.
